New Gym

OK, I've joined a new gym. I haven't gone to it yet, at least as far as a workout is concerned. I did spend a half hour there discussing computers with the owner while I signed my new membership. It's a pretty bare bones gym, but it has treadmills to run on, ellipticals for when my knees or calves are torn up, and free weights for all the workouts I haven't done in a long, long time and now need to start catching up on. Lately my triceps have been giving me a hard time - I think they call it atrophy and it hurts - because they want me to go and do some heavy bench presses, dips and nose busters. Funny how my biceps never do this. Then again, my biceps have never been nearly as strong or well developed as my triceps.

Penny just kicked Sheldon out of  her car. Sorry, watching TV while I type.

I've been reading the book "The Wizard of Oz" just for the heck of it. It's a bit different than the movie. For one thing, Dorothy is a lot younger than in the movie. For another, there is a lot of story left after the Wizard accidentally floats away in his balloon, leaving Dorothy stuck in Oz.

I have a race in a week and a half and I've done exactly no training whatsoever for it. The odds of my ending up injured are pretty high. The odds of my not even getting out of bed and going to the start are even higher. Time just got away from  me and this  is a race I've never run before. Setting a personal best for a race is easy if you've never run it before. Whatever time I do it in, that'll be my personal best for that race. Don't want to set the bar too high right off the bat, see?

My car is filled with dead grass. Apparently when I mow the grass ends up all over the driveway right next to my driver's door. Every morning when I crawl out to the car to get in and drive to work grass must be sticking to my feet and climbing into the car with me, where it jumps off and hides in the floor while I go on inside  to work. I can't blame the grass for not wanting to come all the way into work with me, but it would sure make my life easier.

They're trying to force Sheldon to get his own driver's license.

Anyway, I'm going to stop here.

  1. Hahahaha XD. I love the Big Bang Theory. And new gym huh? I've been going to mine about three times a week - when they're not closed for some stupid reason or when I'm just dead tired and sleep all day instead (because I have no life). Invaded with grass in the car? No cow along the way you can feed it with ;)? Also, I've read the WoOz book. When taking a class in economics - it made me look at that yellow brick road on a completely different perspective.. Oh. I'll stop now XD, go paint my nails instead. And then hit the gym. With pretty nails. Woo!

    1. Annika, I changed jobs and couldn't go to my old gym so I needed to find a new one. And yet I still haven't gone and worked out at my new one. I don't have a good excuse. It's one of those 24 hour gyms where I have a key to get in any time day or night. But the car, it's really irritating. I'm going to have to vacuum it out. But as soon as I do it'll fill with grass again and I'll be right back where I started. I had heard that the Wizard of Oz was a kind of political commentary on the move away from the gold standard, but if that's true then I'm not quite picking up on it. Is that what you heard?

  2. Triceps must be a man thing. Mine are pathetic!!! Glad you've found a new gym :0)

Good luck with staying in bed - I think that is a good plan considering lack of training :0)

Why does all that stuff on your feet seem to stick to your car floor & not the house/office whatever else floor.......annoying!!

    1. AlleyCat, I just never had much luck with my biceps and curls always bored me. But I was good at all the exercises that involved my triceps. Maybe that's why I did so much of it?

I don't know what's going to happen with this race, but if I do try to run it I'll go slow, probably even if I am trying to go fast.

I'd like to know the same thing. If it can stick to my feet long enough to end up in my car, why can't it either come off before I get in or wait until I get out and then shake loose? My car is turning into a hay bale.

  3. hahaha you'll have to mow your car soon!!!

I find the bicep exercises much easier than tricep - tricep push up = fail for me. I always figured it because they were the weaker muscle!!!

I was finally allowed to do some upper body stuff tonight - push ups & spider push ups to begin with it seems. so far so good :0)

    1. AlleyCat, technically, because the bicep only has 2 connection points and the tricep has 3 the tricep is the stronger muscle. But every individual is different, so maybe you have some awesome biceps? I need to do some pushups myself. I haven't been able to get off work in time to get any gym time in over a month. This job is trying to suck every second of my life out of me and give me no benefits in return.
